This week a new single has been released. It’s called Book of Souls. It was inspired by Glenn Cooper‘s Library of the Dead series. I told you about it in my last blog before this. Book of Souls is actually the sequel to Library of the Dead. It elaborates on the same theme. The book follows FBI Special Agent Will Piper and his adventures on the trail of a mysterious book that inspired Shakespeare and the prophecies of Nostradamus. Glenn is a great guy. He told me he was really impressed with the song, which is about the best compliment you can get as a songwriter.

In the song I have tried to capture the atmosphere of the book in music. Modern and ancient at the same time. The lyrics deal with how you start looking at things from a completely different angle when you start to realize that some things in life might be predestined. I love that notion in the book and how explosively Glenn has made it come to life.

There’s more news. Paris Connections, the new Jackie Collins movie for which I built the website will be coming out on DVD exclusively at Tesco supermarkets in the UK on September 6th. Worldwide release will follow soon after I think. I did some more work around that movie that I will tell you about when the time is ripe.

Filming for the psychological thriller movie The Stone, in which I will feature, is delayed and now scheduled to start in August of this year.

After a very busy half year, in the last three weeks I have been recharging my batteries in the Caribbean and the enchanting Moroccon city of Marrakech. I have come back fully inspired and re-energized. During my holiday I read Library of the Dead by American author Glenn Cooper. The book spent some well deserved time on The Times bestseller list. I finished the book in a day myself. It completely absorbed me and left me longing for more. More importantly, it inspired me to write a new song in the Mystery Pop series as it has everything that I love to write about: history, passion, love, intrigue and one of the most original plots I have seen in a long time. Fortunately, Glenn was enthusiastic about the idea to have his book made into a song so here I am, back behind my piano writing the night away about Library of the Dead and its sequel The Book of Souls.
