Spotify and Lastfm

From today on, my music is available through two new channels.

Both Spotify and LastFM are online music services that allow you to listen to songs by ‘streaming’ them to you over the internet. On Spotify, you can listen to my Dutch language album ‘Scenes’. On LastFm I have bundled all the Mystery Pop singles so far. It also features the concept artwork for the Mystery Pop album, which I am pretty excited about.

Upcoming Media Events

There are some media events coming up. This Tuesday 20th July, I will be Eefke Boelhouwer’s guest for an hour in her afternoon radio show on Omroep Brabant, the biggest regional broadcasting company in the Netherlands with a couple of hundred thousand listeners at any moment during the day. We will discuss (and play!) my latest single Book of Souls, my new iPhone App and of course the movies.

Later in the week I expect my interview with Kendra Pinder of Esoteric Online to be published to the web. Will keep you posted of course so watch my Twitter, Facebook or Blog.

Pretty excited to hear that Haunted Magazine will do an article on the movie The Stone that will include my music and me in some way or another. We did a special photo shoot for it and I posted some of the pics on my photo page for you.

Talking about the Stone: since this week there’s an entry in the famous Brtitfilms catalogue mentioning the movie which is pretty damn cool. It is all starting to become quite real now.

Me and my iPhone was love at first sight. I am sure some people must think it’s glued to my hand. It wakes me up, keeps me posted and basically enables me to be plugged into reality 24/7. It also enables me to stay in touch with my friends, fans and followers on the many social networking sites any self-respecting recording artist needs to have a presence on these days.

To take things to the next level, a Corjan iPhone App has been developed that will be available for free download and installation in a couple of week’s time from the App Store. With the App, you can stay up to date with the latest developments about my music and the movies I am involved in. The App will contain the full versions of all the songs in my Discography and all my Music Videos. You won’t need anything else to stay up to date and in touch!

I’ll let you know when it’s hitting the iTunes store.

It was 15 years ago today

15 years ago to the date, my first big musical project was launched into orbit. I wrote the material for the Neo-Opera “Diablo” in 1992, when I was studying and living in Paris. The city constantly fed me with inspiration and it had to be channelled somewhere. Being a typical child of the eighties, I had been playing Marillion’s Misplaced Childhood album to the point of it physically breaking. It gave me the idea to do a concept album, moulding together the best songs I had been writing in my teens and weave them into one coherent story. Musically Diablo became a crossover between 80s pop and Bach. The lyrics had the structure of a classical Greek tragedy: 5 acts and a leading lady called Helen. The album got picked up by some of Holland’s national musical heroes including Musical director Eddy Habbema, who loved my voice and guitar work and invited me to his offices to discuss a co-operation. It inspired me and my best friend designer Jean-Paul Mulder to make a theatrical production out of it, that was subsequently discussed with the Japanese NHK broadcasting company. Eventually Sony Music offered to release one of the album tracks “Helen” as a standalone single in the Netherlands which I stubbornly refused (and regret to this day). Everything was still very much all or nothing for me in those days.

Today looking back at this project drenches me in muscial memories. This morning, for the first time in what is probably over 10 years, I listened to Diablo again. It’s 15 years old and sounds crappy as hell, but the words and the music still do it for me today.

The Book of Souls

This week a new single has been released. It’s called Book of Souls. It was inspired by Glenn Cooper‘s Library of the Dead series. I told you about it in my last blog before this. Book of Souls is actually the sequel to Library of the Dead. It elaborates on the same theme. The book follows FBI Special Agent Will Piper and his adventures on the trail of a mysterious book that inspired Shakespeare and the prophecies of Nostradamus. Glenn is a great guy. He told me he was really impressed with the song, which is about the best compliment you can get as a songwriter.

In the song I have tried to capture the atmosphere of the book in music. Modern and ancient at the same time. The lyrics deal with how you start looking at things from a completely different angle when you start to realize that some things in life might be predestined. I love that notion in the book and how explosively Glenn has made it come to life.

There’s more news. Paris Connections, the new Jackie Collins movie for which I built the website will be coming out on DVD exclusively at Tesco supermarkets in the UK on September 6th. Worldwide release will follow soon after I think. I did some more work around that movie that I will tell you about when the time is ripe.

Filming for the psychological thriller movie The Stone, in which I will feature, is delayed and now scheduled to start in August of this year.

Library of the Dead

After a very busy half year, in the last three weeks I have been recharging my batteries in the Caribbean and the enchanting Moroccon city of Marrakech. I have come back fully inspired and re-energized. During my holiday I read Library of the Dead by American author Glenn Cooper. The book spent some well deserved time on The Times bestseller list. I finished the book in a day myself. It completely absorbed me and left me longing for more. More importantly, it inspired me to write a new song in the Mystery Pop series as it has everything that I love to write about: history, passion, love, intrigue and one of the most original plots I have seen in a long time. Fortunately, Glenn was enthusiastic about the idea to have his book made into a song so here I am, back behind my piano writing the night away about Library of the Dead and its sequel The Book of Souls.

Thanks Glenn for the opportunity and I hope you’ll like the song as much as I like writing it!

Spirit Revolution

Earlier this week I was interviewed by American NY Times bestselling author Kathleen McGowan and research journalist and publicist Filip Coppens for their new Spirit Revolution show on BBS Radio. We talked about my music, the Mystery Pop project but also about the Mystery of Rennes-le-Château. This mystery, that I have been researching for over 15 years now, inspired countless books including Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code and Kathleen McGowan’s own book The Expected One.

Cam Girl Music Video
